KCC’s new generation of low carbon, zero-emission fuel prepared ‘CABU III’ vessels will be delivered, marking a new era for the group.

The newbuilds are key to position the company for expected growing caustic soda import volumes to Australia, and for meeting KCC’s ambitious targets of an approximately 45% reduction in its carbon intensity within 2030, relative to actual 2018 performance.

KCC embarks on a ground-breaking energy effiency program to deliver significant cuts in carbon emissions across the fleet and further strengthen its position as a leader in low carbon shipping.

The program is funded in large by private placement, with additional funding supplied Enova, a Norwegian government enterprise responsible for promoting environmentally friendly energy production.

KCC welcomes the first of eight vessels of the CLEANBU (clean bulker) generation the fleet, with the last of the vessels joining the fleet in early 2021.

The vessels weigh in at 82,500 DWT and will strengthen KCC’s position in the clean petroleum products industry.

Klaveness Combination Carriers (KCC) is officially established as a separate entity from the Torvald Klaveness Group of businesses and successfully completes its placement on the Oslo Stock Exchange with the ticker “KCC”.

The first day of trading is March 23rd, 2018 and the share opens at NOK 47.50.

The first combination carriers more similar to how we know them today are ten Panamax ‘OBOs’ (ore-bulk-oil) carriers. The company operates six vessels at 48 000 DWT, these product bulk carriers are also capable of transporting containers. They are 75 000 DWT.

The company continues its expansion into the caustic market, with a 34 200 DWT caustic-bulker vessel with one hold suitable for transporting caustic soda.
